The Japanese automaker has just unveiled the Mazda 3 2024. The only downside is that this is the version intended for its local market, namely Japan. Fortunately, Mazda is not the type to make radical changes to its models between the different markets in which they are present. Thus, everything suggests that the Mazda 3 2024 intended for the Canadian market will be very similar to its Japanese cousin, apart from its right-hand drive, of course.

The Mazda 3 2024 undergoes a slight update with the addition of a new color to its palette, namely ceramic metallic gray. This color adds a touch of elegance to the Japanese manufacturer's compact car.

A larger screen

The biggest innovation regarding the Mazda 3 2024 is the addition of a 10.3-inch screen that replaces the old 8.8-inch screen. Mazda also adds some technological elements to its compact car's equipment. These include USB-C ports and a wireless charging pad for compatible devices, which was definitely missing from the Mazda 3. The latter also has access to new safety technologies.

Three engines

For the rest, the Japanese automaker's compact car offering seems unchanged. Therefore, we can expect it to benefit from the same engines that it currently offers.

In its base version, the Mazda 3 is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired with a manual or automatic 6-speed transmission in both cases. However, there is only one option for the drivetrain here, with front-wheel drive.

Next, we move on to the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, which offers a much more interesting power output with its 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. Again, we have the choice between a manual and an automatic transmission. However, the latter gives us access to all-wheel drive here, which makes it even more irresistible.

Finally, the Japanese automaker's compact car offers a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque with premium gasoline. Not to mention that it benefits from standard all-wheel drive, making it a particularly formidable mechanical combination, even if it does not bear the MazdaSpeed name.

The Canadian version of the Mazda 2024 should be unveiled in the coming weeks, and we expect it to offer essentially the same improvements as its Japanese version.
